How pure is distilled water? The process involves boiling water until steam is produced. When the steam rises from the water solids, dissolved gases and other contaminants are removed. The steam is condensed resulting to purified water then gathered in a storage tank for future use.

The water is also free of contaminants like chlorine and dissolved solids that other water purification methods may not effectively remove. Producing a gallon of water via distillation is more cost-effective compared to RO or reverse osmosis systems that produce 4 to 5 gallons of wastewater that goes back to the community sources just to render 1 purified gallon. Some systems involve softening the feed water first using an ion exchange system which takes away minerals that cause scaling and corrosion in the distillers.
